Singer, songwriter, and performer Gil Felix presents the launch show for his newest EP, “América Abubaka II,” on November 21, 2025, at 8 PM, at Teatro de Bolso Villas Boulevard, in Villas do Atlântico, Lauro de Freitas – BA. The show celebrates the project's selection by the prestigious Educadora FM Independente 2025 label.
The show will feature guest musicians from the band AIUBA: Reggae, Poesia, Cura e Harmonia à 432Hz, visual ambiance, and a narrative script that transforms the stage into a space of memory and belonging.
With artistic direction by Lucciano Cruz and Denize Gomes, the show unites music, performance, poetry, and ancestry in an immersive and affective experience. The repertoire, based on the eponymous EP, proposes a fusion between the groove of Bahia and Nigerian Afrobeat, with organic arrangements, poetic lyrics, and beats that connect the Recôncavo region to the African continent. Inspired by the historical figure of Abubakari II, prince of the Mali Empire who is said to have crossed the Atlantic before the arrival of Europeans in the Americas, the show constructs a sonic narrative about crossings, belonging, and Black resistance.
The project is a production of Wooow Productions with support from the Wooow Institute and is part of the programming of the Educadora FM label, also including the recording of the "Especial das Seis" (Special at Six), appearances on TVE Bahia programs, and multiplatform promotional activities.
